Founded in 1968, Calumet Electronics is a longstanding hometown staple in the Upper Peninsula's Calumet, MI. The Village of Calumet, nicknamed “Copper Town USA,” was a major supplier of copper to the continental U.S. — The town’s namesake Calumet and Hecla Mining Company produced over half the nation’s copper from 1871 through 1880.
Calumet Electronics played a pivotal role in keeping the town afloat with manufacturing jobs when most mining operations ceased production in the late '60s. Today, the corporation employs 360 people, including around 270 manufacturing professionals working on the factory floor. Calumet's facility produces approximately four million circuit boards annually, generating approximately $45 million in revenue. The company supplies PCBs to the defense, aerospace, industrial power, medical, and industrial equipment industries, and considered one of the most important domestic PCB suppliers in the nation.
Don’t miss this opportunity to see how this unique manufacturer utilizes software and other low-cost capital items to improve their business in its medium-volume, high-mix operations.
