This week, Automation Alley released its 2017 Technology Industry Report, highlighting that the manufacturing industry is moving rapidly to embrace Industry 4.0 technology as a critical part of its processes and plans to make new technological investments in 2017. Despite these findings, the report also found that there are many barriers to Industry 4.0 adoption.

A situation at Yelp this week has shined a national spotlight on the cost of living disparity across America’s major technology hubs, and it highlights the hardships faced by many employees who are struggling to make ends meet while working and living in the country’s most expensive cities. According to Automation Alley’s 2016 Technology Industry Report, there is one major U.S. city where the technology industry is thriving, and its employees can enjoy a high standard of living: Detroit.
