DMSMS & VisCom™
In recent years, the U.S. defense industry has shifted its focus from producing new weapons, vehicles and other defense systems to sustaining existing systems. However, many of the original suppliers and manufacturers of the various parts that make up these systems are no longer in business or have ceased to supply needed parts.
To assist the Department of Defense (DoD) in their sustainment efforts, Automation Alley developed VisCom™, a database and communication tool that lists tens of thousands of manufacturers and suppliers across the U.S. and includes valuable information on each company, such as their financial viability and technical capabilities. If an original manufacturer or supplier is no longer in business or has stopped supplying a particular part or material, Automation Alley can identify companies through VisCom™ that are capable of reverse engineering the parts and developing a corresponding technical data package and prototype.

In cases where the original supplier or manufacturer of a part needed by the Army is no longer in business, the technical data needed to continue manufacturing that part is often lost or is only available at a high price. In these cases, Automation Alley can identify companies through VisCom™ that are capable of reverse engineering the parts and developing a corresponding technical data package and prototype.
