Looking for work in Industry 4.0? Global automation and technology company Fori Automation, a Lincoln Electric company is having an on-site career fair at its over 200,000 sq. ft. headquarters (13231 23 Mile Rd) in Shelby Twp., MI.

The Career fair is scheduled Wednesday, March 1st from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Thursday, March 2nd from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., and Friday, March 3rd from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The three-day event will feature onsite interviews with the opportunity for onsite job offers.

“Shelby Twp has been our home since we were founded in 1984, we’re a technology-centric company focused on bringing new and innovative products to the market,” Fori Automation President Paul Meloche said. We provide custom automation solution to the Automotive, Aerospace, and Numerous General Industry customers.  Fori is now a key part of a $850 million sales automation organization at Lincoln Electric, who is renown as The Welding Experts and the automation leader in their industry. This provides expanded career opportunities for our employees.

In addition to Fori’s presence in  in Shelby Twp, Fori has 7 additional facilities located around the world and is part of the 31 automation facility footprint located across 10 countries within Lincoln Electric’s portfolio, which includes an automation team of over 2,000 experts, and approximately 2 million square feet of build space to accommodate a diverse range of project sizes and complexity.

“We have a very diverse product offering, which is exciting for employees. They’ll have the opportunity to be engaged in the design and build of many different types of products with different customers and in different industries.”

Fori Automation’s diverse product portfolio includes:

Automated Material Handling: Rail Guided Carts (RGCs), Automated Guided Carts (AGCs) and Tuggers for automated assembly and material handling applications

Assembly Automation: Module Assembly & Alignment Systems, Custom Assembly / Automation Systems, Chassis Marriage Systems, and Assembly Automation Material Handling Systems

End Of Line Systems: Alignment Systems, Driver Assist Systems, Headlamp Aiming Systems, Roll & Brake / DVT Systems, Vehicle Exerciser Systems

Body & Chassis Structure Welding & Machining Systems: Chassis Structures – MIG Weld, Body Structures – Spot Weld, Special Welding Assemblies – Projection, Laser & Drawn Arc, and Special Products & Components.

“Compared to being an engineer working directly for The Big Three where you have to design a visor in a car, at Fori you’ll have the opportunity to work on multiple different projects and see those projects from cradle to grave — from the point it comes out of sales as a concept to designing it, to having it be released on the floor, supporting the assembly or commissioning on the floor, and going into the field to see it installed,” Meloche said.

There are also opportunities for engineers interested in additive manufacturing. The Shelby Twp. headquarters features an array of Markforged 3D printers.

“We determined three or four years ago that additive manufacturing was a great option and an alternative to machining steel parts,” Meloche said.

Many engineers get training on additive manufacturing, he added.

“It is a different mindset vs. if you are going to put it on a lathe or CNC vs if you put it on a 3D printer. You have to understand the materials and the layering of the composites or plastics and whether you want it to be a hollow or solid core.”

Open positions at Fori Automation include:

Those interested are invited to apply on-line at www.foriauto.com/Careers.  Attendees should bring copies of their resume and expect a casual dress code.

“For engineers that like diversity, challenges and technology, this is the ultimate breeding ground,” Meloche said. “We give you the opportunity to engage in your projects and get your hands dirty. You won’t just be stuck behind a desk.”
