BRAZIL
Join Automation Alley's Trade Mission to Brazil
October 18-25, 2008
Sao Paulo & Rio de Janeiro

Why Brazil?
Brazil is Latin America's largest commercial market. It ranks among the world’s top 10 economies and is also among the top five recipients of direct investment by foreign companies. Brazil is a major exporter of manufactured products. Currently, it is one of the leading producers of steel, aircraft, and automobiles with strong investment potentials in biotechnology and medical devices.
Brazil’s GDP is projected to grow 5.5% this year---almost unheard of in a middle-income country---while domestic consumption rates will continue to rise into the double-digits annually over the next decade (versus 2-3% in the US). The automotive industry in particular will see a considerable increase in new car sales.
Brazil is a bio-energy (and soon to be oil) superpower and has set the standard for how industrialized nations can become more energy efficient and less dependent on oil and gas coming from the most volatile regions of the world. As the world's largest ethanol
producer (made from sugar cane, the world's largest crop in both production and export tonnage), Brazil has become a model for energy independency and a trailblazer for green technologies using alternative forms of power generation to fuel its economy while significantly reducing pollution.
Brazil’s free-trade agreements with neighboring countries (e.g., Mercosur) offers American companies market access to other Latin American countries with a combined population of nearly 300 million consumers and a GDP exceeding $2.5 trillion.

The U.S. Department of Commerce/U.S. Commercial Service (Gold Key Service) and American Chamber of Commerce will arrange matchmaking meetings that will place your company directly in touch with potential buyers or distributors of your products, joint-venture partners, technology licensees, and the key players you need to know to successfully break into these markets.
Attend business receptions where you will have an opportunity to meet with government officials and business experts who will share their firsthand insights about the opportunities and challenges of doing business in Brazil.
Mission highlights will include a visit to COSAN, a world-class bio-ethanol refinery that converts sugar cane into bio-fuel (which, incidentally, generates six times more energy than what is derived from corn-based ethanol). Our delegation will also meet with officials from the Brazilian Sugarcane Industry Association (UNICA), the largest organization in Brazil representing sugar, ethanol and bioelectricity producers. Finally, we will visit Escola Superior de Agricultura Luiz de Queiroz (ESALQ), one of the world’s leading university’s involved in researching and developing next-generation renewable energy systems.
Cost to participate is $5,995.* Price includes international airfare, five-star hotels, internal transportation, matchmaking meetings, business briefings, welcome receptions, and industrial park tours. "My expectations were to get an understanding of the market, customers, regulations, and business environment within China. It is amazing how different my perception of China was from what I have experienced on the mission. The costs of a market research study are in line with the cost of attending the trade mission, and I was able to make many high quality contacts, and prospective business leads while in the country"
- Kyle Schwulst-ElectroJet Inc.-Whitmore Lake, Michigan.
ElectroJet recently signed two letters of intent to license their electronic fuel-
injection technology to major Chinese manufacturers. Conservatively speaking,
projected sales will fall into the multi-million dollar range.
Participation is limited to 10 company participants only.
