Automation Alley
Automation Alley is a regionally-focused technology organization integrating business, education, and government to strengthen Southeast Michigan's economy. Southeast Michigan is also being branded Automation Alley in: the City of Detroit and Genesee, Livingston, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, St. Clair, Washtenaw and Wayne counties.

Members benefit by creating networks and collaborations that shape the future of the organization and the economic landscape of Southeast Michigan and by using the services the Alley offers, including the press release system, meeting space, educational events and seminars.

Technology Center
The Automation Alley Technology Center brings together businesses, educators and government to help entrepreneurs accelerate the commercialization of new technologies and services.  With the Technology Center’s support and resources, ideas are turned into usable, marketable technology solutions.

Services and Resources:

·         Accelerator: Attracts and assists developers of high potential technology products and services in taking their innovations to market. 

 

·         Business Plan Development: Focuses on turning ideas into usable, marketable technology solutions.

 

·         Demonstration: Provides individuals and companies venues for showcasing new technologies and innovations.

 

·         Research and Development: Holds a cooperative research and development agreement (CRADA) with the National Automotive Center (NAC) – Michigan’s only federal research lab – including an office located at Automation Alley Headquarters.

 

·         Financial Assistance:  Limited seed capital investments for advanced automotive technology commercialization is available.

 

·         Education: Educational programs, seminars and workshops open to the research and business communities that highlight and stimulate entrepreneurial activity in the region are offered.

 

·         Professional Development: Maintains a network of mentors and experts.

International Business Center
The Automation Alley International Business Center (IBC) presents new opportunities for international business organizations that would like to establish a business presence in Southeast Michigan, in addition to available assistance for small to medium-sized enterprises that would like to send their products and services into the global marketplace.

Business Attraction Services:
 

  • Assistance for small to mid-sized foreign companies and international government entities interested in establishing businesses in Southeast Michigan. 
    • Free services include pre-arranged company and facility visits; meetings with government officials, attorneys and CPAs; regional demographic information; office space; meeting rooms; video conferencing; access to computers; phone and answering service.
    • Discounted services include hotel and apartment lodging.

Exporting Assistance:

 

  • Ongoing trade missions to assist Southeast Michigan businesses in selling their products and services globally.

  • Educational summits to help colleges and universities explore best practices in exporting education.

  • Network of resources, including strategic partnerships with U.S. Commercial Services offices around the world.

  • Ongoing seminars and consulting services to help small companies become export ready.

GLIMA Network
One of the country’s largest associations for technology professionals, the GLIMA Network provides life-long learning opportunities to its members and supports Michigan’s technology economy. With the mission of supporting and promoting the growth of the technology industry throughout Michigan and the Great Lakes region, the GLIMA Network and its chapters offers member many resources, including: 

  • Professional Development:  Each chapter focuses on its membership’s needs to provide educational seminars for employee growth, including seminars on e-commerce, extranets and Internet security.

  • Events:  Each chapter holds events to provide networking opportunities for its members. 

  • Small Business Assistance:  Hosts educational seminars and provides assistance to small business members in starting or maintaining their businesses.
     
  • On-going Communication:  GLIMA members are “plugged in” to a number of electronic tools available through the Connections newsletter and regional/chapter Web sites. 
     
  • Student Involvement:  Through its low cost student memberships, GLIMA offers an entry point to local and statewide career opportunities. 
     
  • Employer Benefits:  GLIMA helps companies attract and retain skilled professionals.

Each individual chapter satisfies the needs and priorities of local technology-oriented professionals while providing access to a large, geographically diverse network of exemplary professionals. There are currently seven GLIMA chapters located throughout Southeast Michigan:
