Automation Alley Funded Company Receives First Government Contract

Troy, Mich., March 11, 2010 – Automation Alley, Michigan’s largest technology business association, announced today that Orion-based Pure Entropy Technologies, an Automation Alley seed funded company, is the recipient of part of a government contract to provide encryption software for unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs). Pure Entropy Technologies was the recipient of $250,000 in funding from Automation Alley in 2008.

“It’s always rewarding to see emerging technology companies signing new contracts and finding new business,” said Ken Rogers, executive director, Automation Alley. “Pure Entropy has a proven product and is diversifying, which is fundamental to success in Southeast Michigan’s technology-based economy.”

The company’s software will be used to protect the UGVs in a variety of military applications. The company’s proprietary encryption algorithm, called Jumble, prevents outside persons from intercepting any and all types of information. With technology’s ever-increasing role in today’s military battles, this cyber data is susceptible to interference and theft.

“We are honored and pleased that our encryption technology was chosen as part of this important government contract,” said Kevin Lasser, CEO of Encryption Security Solutions and Pure Entropy Technologies. “We feel our technology has been validated by the most important of encryption acquisition sources.”

Lasser is also president of the Michigan Homeland Security Consortium. After four years of development, he and his team have become leaders in military contracting initiatives in Michigan and across the country.

“Pure Entropy has developed a technology that will offer a level of protection to our nation’s IT systems that has been unachievable heretofore,” said U.S. Marine Corps Major General Bradley M. Lott (ret). “This contract alone has potential in the millions; however, there are other contracts that may soon dwarf that.”
